Meet the President, Daniel Kelly

Daniel Kelly took the helm at Community Quest, Inc. in 1993. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia and a master's in psychology from Seton Hall University. Prior to Community Quest, he previously served as Executive Director at Easter Seals Cumberland Rehabilitation Center.

Growing up in Jersey City Dan got to watch the World Trade Center rise from the streets of New York City. He also became an avid New York Yankees fan, taking the train every chance he got to watch his beloved team. When he's not watching a game in the summer he can be found engaging in his other passion, fishing. On his rare days off, gaze out into the Delaware Bay, you may just see him in his secret fishing spot, enjoying the day on his boat.

When Dan first came aboard, Community Quest, Inc. was a typical human service organization providing services to people with developmental disabilities and heavily reliant on funding from the State of New Jersey. This never sat right with Dan. He knew the company needed to diversify to thrive. So, in 1998 the diversification began. In response to the Welfare Reform Act, the company's services were expanded to assist people progressing from welfare to work. Our employment division, Career Quest, began helping people exiting the welfare rolls find and keep employment. In 2001 the company opened its first housing program that was not funded by the state, a HUD/Federal Home Loan Bank of NY funded independent living apartment in Cape May County.

Dan's vision for the company took a giant leap forward in the fall of 2004. He assembled key staff to “get on the bus” to develop ways to bring diversified funding sources to the company to become less reliant on funding from the State of New Jersey.

Since then the company has undergone many positive changes on our path to self-sufficiency. Under his leadership the company has formed three new corporations:

  • Home Quest, Inc. is the housing corporation operating our residential programs and developing new projects. Home Quest, Inc. is developing the first permanent affordable housing project for veterans in the State of New Jersey. This will be a state of the art accessible, green building to provide an energy efficient and healthy living environment for veterans.
  • The Community Quest, Inc. Foundation Board, a 509(3) supporting corporation whose sole purpose is to generate unrestricted funds to support the mission of the company.
  • MedAQuest LLC is the company's first for-profit corporation. It is a nursing staffing company whose profits support the mission of the company.

The Career Quest division has also expanded with the Latino Outreach Project in Cumberland County and a program to place single parents in jobs with Harrah's Entertainment properties.

Dan continues to lead the company to be on the cutting edge of the human service industry. Our programs are consistently ahead of the curve with innovative housing and employment products. The future is bright for Community Quest, Inc. with Dan leading the ship.
